Celebrating Summer and
Welcoming New Volunteers

As this summer comes to a close, we often see our dedicated volunteers transition back to school routines and activities with their children. While we will miss their presence, this change opens up exciting new opportunities for more community members to get involved and make a difference in the lives of our seniors.

This summer has been a vibrant season for DSCC and KSC, filled with senior-focused events such as Senior Dance Parties and Community Dining events, activities to support seniors' pets, and successful fundraising efforts like the Champions For Charity Golf Classic. These events have played a crucial role in helping seniors live independently, and none of them would have been possible without the dedication and coordination of our amazing volunteers.

At DSCC and KSC, we're committed to our volunteers. We provide full training to ensure volunteers feel confident and prepared for their roles.

With a variety of opportunities and scheduling flexibility, there is an opportunity for everyone to contribute, regardless of age or availability.

Together, we can continue to enrich the lives of our seniors.

VOLUNTEERING AT SENIOR EVENTS

Senior Dance Parties

DSCC and KSC host seven Senior Dance Parties each year, offering active seniors a wonderful opportunity to socialize, get moving, and have fun.

Volunteers play a crucial role in organizing these events, ensuring everything runs smoothly and that our seniors enjoy every moment. Their efforts create a lively and welcoming atmosphere, making each Dance Party a memorable and joyful experience for all.

Community Dining / Senior Dine

DSCC and KSC coordinate Senior Dine and Community Dining Events, giving seniors opportunities to gather over a meal and connect with others.

The Senior Dine program is our new restaurant program that partners seniors with select local restaurants throughout DuPage and Kane Counties.

Community Dining brings seniors together at a local community center for shared meals and friendship.

Volunteers help coordinate each event and ensure seniors have a stress-free and memorable experience.

VOLUNTEERING AT FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Fundraising Events Volunteering

DSCC and KSC rely on grants, donations, and community support to fund essential programs for seniors.

Our volunteers are at the heart of these efforts, raising awareness of senior issues and advocating for DSCC and KSC.

Volunteers bring energy and enthusiasm to fundraising events like our annual Champions for Charity Golf Classic and other critical fundraisers.

Their participation helps secure the resources needed and inspires others to get involved.

VOLUNTEERING AS A PARTNER

DSCC and KSC are fortunate to have business partners volunteering their time and services to support our seniors.

One shining example is the Hinsdale Humane Society, which recently hosted a free clinic for pets.

The clinic provided free vaccines, microchips, pet food support, and more for seniors with pets.

Volunteers and local businesses are committed to the community and serving seniors and play a pivotal role in supporting seniors.

VOLUNTEERING ON YOUR SCHEDULE

Intergenerational Activities

Oftentimes, busy schedules don't allow for regular volunteering.

That's why we have our Intergenerational Activities program which gives people of all ages the opportunity to do what they love and still help seniors.

Take Jenny, for example, who created beautiful blankets for seniors and dropped them off to be included with our home-delivered meals.

These acts of kindness show that everyone can contribute in their own unique way, bringing joy and comfort to our seniors while enriching their own lives.

Friendly Phone Calls

Volunteers who can carve out a few hours here and there can significantly impact a senior's life through our Friendly Phone Call program.

This program pairs a senior with a volunteer, allowing them to coordinate convenient times to chat on the phone.

These friendly calls help combat social isolation and provide companionship, offering flexibility to fit around a volunteer's schedule.

It's a simple yet profoundly meaningful way to make a difference in a senior's day.

JOIN US!

As you can see, volunteers are the lifeblood of DSCC and KSC, bringing energy, dedication, and compassion to every event and program.
